ABOUT

A Language of Earth

I was born and raised in Izmir. The cultural heritage of the Aegean civilizations and the ideal forms of ancient sites shape the visual language of my ceramic practice.

The female figure is central in my work and appears as an embracing, containing form: strong and fragile at the same time. I work with clay-based slips and alternative firing methods to keep the material surface natural, open, and honest.

For more than twenty years, I have produced work in my home studio in Urla, while continuing advanced studio practice with Tuzum Kizilcan. In 2023, I studied traditional Onggi techniques in Korea with Ahn Sisung.
